Another wonderful stay at the Snowdonia Retreat - as lovely as we remember! Gorgeous weather, cloudless skies and brilliant sunshine all week. Managed to achieve some more mountains, Y Garn, Glyders ( amazing views of Snowdon and Crib Goch ) and Tryfan as well as Mynydd Mawr and Mynydd Drws-Y-Code. Also had an amazing scramble to Snowdon summit via Yr Aran and back down Watkin path. Highly recommend ice cream parlours in Beddgelert and Beaumaris on Anglesey. Still more mountains to climb and more stunning vies to see so will back soon! Thanks again from
Ed and Rachel ( Hampshire ).

It was a real pleasure to visit Snowdonia in December and to witness all those dramatic changes in weather! What an excellent place to stay, thank you.

Another stay and three more walks up Snowdon - but still no cloudless view! Oh well we will just have to come back! We love it here- so peaceful and yet so close to the mountains that we love to walk up and cycle round. Thank you for the tips and advice on walking paths... the more times we come the more we find to explore further. see you again soon we hope,
Lindsay and George. ps. Suggestion if possible - hooks on the wall outside in the porch way to put soaking wet coats and trousers?

Thank you for that suggestion, we have put up a set of hooks just outside the door.

22nd October
Yet another peaceful break, it fact it is so quite and dark it is difficult to wake up. Thanks again for a great place to stay.

Another great time spent at The Retreat. Thank you both for your hospitality. We had a lovely break as usual and don't want to go home. We love the mountains and all that goes with it. Have left a little rose for you. Take care,

Setting back on our long trip back to Kent today. We carry with us an album of wonderful memories of North Wales, not only in the photos and videos but what is stored inside these old 'brains' as well. Wow! What fantastic weather, views and the wonderful Retreat which was such a pleasure to return to each night. When I searched the net for a place to stay I certainly hit the jackpot. Val would also like me to convey her warmest thanks for your hospitality and chats. We would certainly like to return thank you both sincerely,
Val and John.

3rd - 10th September
Another great stay in The Retreat. Weather could have been better but nice to come back to a warm dry place. Perhaps next year we might get a bit more sunshine so until next year take care and thank you both.
Dorothy and Ken.

Week 20th August 2011
Another pleasant week spent in The Retreat and enjoying the beautiful scenery in Wales. The weather was good for the most part and we made it to the Cannon and Cantilever rocks. Bit stiff but happy,
Thanks Les and Mark.

6th- 20th August
We have had a lovely holiday staying at The Retreat. It is a great base for exploring the area. The weather has been very mixed but the variety of walks and drives has meant we haven't stayed in much.
Many thanks, Paul & Denise.

39th July - 6th August
What a lovely stay. The Snowdonia Retreat is very comfortable with everything you need for the week ( thanks for the milk and bars ). The weather was just perfect and thanks to the internet connection we could check the forecast. that was very handy - we would love to recommend the area and this great little studio at a great price.
Thanks, Tony and Melanie

"You're going to Wales? Haha, you can expect to be rained on," they tell me at work just before I finish on the Friday.
Haha! Nothing could be further from the truth!! As we arrived at the lovely Snowdonia Retreat we soon realized that thee's Sky TV and I became addicted to the weather forecast. And with the prospect of some really good weather we decided to take on Snowdon on our first day ( Sunday). Couldn't have been any better!! Excellent views and visibility all the way, it was quite magical, really! Just a bit strange that you hardly see anybody on the way up, and all of a sudden, as you get closer and closer to the top, there's all these people, almost coming from nowhere. The cafe facilities were really great and I was amazed at the views out of the big windows, last time I came in 2007 there was absolutely nothing.
We were so blessed to get such great views and I'm convinced we just picked the perfect day.
On Monday we had a leisurely day around Caernarfon and we went to visit the castle - quite a grand castle!! Absolutely loved it! In the afternoon we went to Llandudno, up the Great Orme a bit and then the pier, which made us feel like we were going back in time to Victorian holidays! You absolutely must try the ice-cream at the end of the pier - I had the stem ginger and dark chocolate and passion fruit and cheesecake, and it was absolutely gorgeous!
On Tuesday we went up Mynydd Mawr from The Snowdonia Retreat, and what a little gem of a walk that was! With glorious weather all around, the views were just amazing!!
Wednesday we went on a car drive around the Llyn Peninsula (another day of glorious sunshine!) I was gutted that we could not find anywhere to park the car in Aberdaron as it looked an amazing spot, but we found in Criccieth an amazing place to go paddling (shame I didn't take my swimming costume with me!) and for some really nice fish and chips and ice cream.
The only day we actually got some rain was Thursday, so good job we just left the car for exhaust repair in Bangor and went shopping!! Luckily it cleared in the afternoon, and we went for some gorgeous fish and chips in Holyhead on Anglesey, and then went to South Stack and walked to Holyhead mountain - well worth the detour!! On our last day, Friday, we walked up Moel Eilio from The Snowdonia Retreat and found ourselves doing  more detours than we would have wanted.... quite cloudy but no rain!!! It has been a fantastic holiday, many thanks Ian and Marion for a lovely place, the milk, the chocolate biscuits etc.! We definitely want to come back!!

Thank you Marion & Ian.

25th - 26th June
Good budget accommodation. The equipment is good, the shower is very good, everything you need is here. Nice touch with milk and teabags when you arrive. Sadly due to my partners limited mobility ( he broke his foot two weeks ago) the location is a bit remote for us as we cannot go walking and have decided to leave early to go to accommodation nearer his sons house in Ruddlan. Best wishes from
Heidi and David from Kent.

18th - 24th June
A lovely stay in the Snowdonia Retreat. A perfect base for exploring such as stunning area. Wonderful hot, powerful shower and comfy bed, as well as good cooking facilities- a real cozy place to stay, providing everything a walker needs. Thank you for the photo walks. Highly recommend the circular walk from the campsite and Cwym Bychan. Also climbed/ scrambled Snowdon via Crib Goch and Horseshoe (absolutely terrifying!!) as well as via Rhyd-Ddu and Ranger paths. Cricht and Moel Elio provided amazing views. Also very impressed with the Isle of Anglesey coast path. Lots more to do, so we will definitely be back!
Ed and Rachel.

11th- 13th June
We loved The Retreat, thank you! Little extras that we didn't expect, milk, coffee & tea bags & flowers! Fantastic shower after a rainy trudge up Snowdon. Didn't have any time to go on the hikes in your book, we may be back! Would recommend to friends.

21st - 28th May
We have had a lovely week in Wales staying at The Retreat which had everything we needed. We've enjoyed the castles, the scenery, beaches and best of all we had glorious sunshine for our trip on The Snowdon Mountain Railway.

'The Retreat' was perfect for us, very comfortable and every possible 'convenience'. Thanks for your help. We love the area, only sad that the top of Snowdon was in cloud, but enjoyed visit to Portmeirion, Lloyd George museum and Morfa Nefyn. Had 2 very good suppers at Tanronnen Inn ( worth booking and getting there by 7 ).
Anthony and Jenny from Fife

7th - 11th May
Another fantastic holiday, weather not great but still plenty to do. First time in The Retreat, normally we camp but as expected Ian and Marion think of everything. A special thanks for the card, balloons and banner for my 50th birthday. It is the little things that make a difference, that's why we come back every year. Thank once again,
Kevan and Lesley Stone on Trent - Land of the mighty Stoke City.

Thurs 4th May
Hello Marion & Ian! Sorry we missed you. Thanks for the welcome details - milk, biscuits, flowers etc. and for well thought out and cosy 'Retreat'. A couple of suggestions - an idiots guide to using the Sky tuner & elementary us of the microwave - for tech idiots like us. Also low energy bulbs.
Thanks again, Peter

23rd - 28th April

Dear Marion and Ian,
We would like to thank you for your lovely hospitality ( as always ). We didn't expect such wonderful weather that caused sunburns at the beginning of April. What luck. Certainly we will be back cause we've got still so many walks to do 'around' Betws Garmon! Thank you again!
Agnieszka and Marcin

1st - 3rd April
My first trip by myself and it was amazing! I will definitely come back.

21st -22nd March
Sunshine all week! Been slapping on the factor 20!!
Second visit to The Snowdonia Retreat for me, and once again Ian and Marion have been brilliant. All the benefits of being on a campsite in the heart of Snowdonia but with a hot shower, a comfy bed and a kitchen all of which were most welcome after a full day of climbing. This has been an exceptional holiday ( again). With Ian's valuable advice I have ticked off, Tryfan, Glyder Fach, Glyder Fawr and the Watkin Path to Snowdon this week, among many other walks. Will be back to do Crib Goch soon I hope! Thank you so much to you both for a wonderful weeks break! ( again )
Duncan, East Sussex

23rd - 25th February 2011
Brilliant little place - with everything ( and more) than you need. We keep finding extra little things - but all in one room.
We've camped lots of times in this area - but with the cold & wet February conditions we were so glad to retreat back to this cosy place.
We recommend it and hopefully be back again.
Thank you very much,
Lindsay & George

11th - 13th February 2011

Had a wonderful week here revisiting some old favourite - Tryfan, and exploring new places - Y Garn and the Carneddau horseshoe. The Retreat has been a perfect place for this and we have really enjoyed our stay! Hope to be back soon.
